WEEK6

EVALUATION

When I started this course I thought I could study many kinds of specific courses in Fashion before deciding my major. Also I was really looking forward to meet diverse foreign friends.

The most rewarding thing during this course is that I found the thing that I really enjoy and want to do. Before the course started, I wanted to learn fashion design vaguely, but I was not sure what I wanted to learn. However, the iisf course gave me a chance to experience various courses and I could get feedback from professional tutors. Through the feedback from them, I was able to know what kind of work styles I had, what I am good at, and as a result, I was able to know when I feel happy to work on and deciede which major I want to study more. After the decision, I was able to enjoy the work and tried to have a better technique. I practiced weaving and knitting, which I couldn’t do at all before the course, and I kept exploring it to make creative work. I think the teaching styles and feedback of iisf course tutors gave students an opportunity to develop by themselves.

Term3 Project was a different way that I had never done before. It was a very confusing task at first for me, who had always worked with thematic project, but with the help of the tutor, I could understand how to lead my thoughts. I think my brainstorming ability improved while I was researching museums and libraries for this project, and I was able to think more deeply about my topic and make a better sample.

In term2, I wanted to show my experimental personality and creativity rather than technique, so I focused on various experiments than specific technique in knitting, but in term3, I wanted to show more advanced technique. I make an effort to create a three-dimensional texture samples rather than a flat one by expressing the unusual silhouettes of my keyword, mutation, while simultaneously utilizing the characteristics of the knit.

If I hadn’t started this course, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to experience various courses, including business and media, and I would have gone to Ba without knowledge about references and academic writing. Also, I fully understand the difference between the thematic and conceptual project. In particular, I think term3 project developed me a lot in how to think about the subject. All of these will work as advantages in first year.

I’m satisfied with my textile samples of this project. Because this time I tried to make more knitting samples than weaving samples. I think my knitting skill little developed through term3 and make me want to practice more.

If I had longer in term3 project, I would add more researches by searching diverse sources to strengthen the relationship of each stages of project. In addition I would like to make more collages and designs using my textile samples. I think I spent more time focusing on my English test during 3 weeks and I didn’t do well in time management this term.

Although it was really stressful and there are many things I lacked, I think it was a course that gained a lot more.
